When it comes to the electronics industry, there is no exhibition that comes close to electronica. It is the biggest electronics show in the world by quite some distance. This year, the show will be held in its usual location, the Munich Messe from November 12th to 15th. Again, the exhibition will be co-located again with Semicon Europe. According to the exhibition organisers, 3,000 exhibitors have already booked up their space in one of the 18 halls occupied by the event.
There is much more to electronica than just the exhibition halls though. It features a full supporting program in parallel with the exhibition. This year, the highlights include practice-oriented forums, conferences and special events.
There will be six stages, with each in or around the hall that represents the stage’s application area. There, industry experts will share their practical knowledge in presentations and discussions. There will be a wide range of topics, including automotive, embedded systems, IIoT and, naturally, power. This year the show will also add several new topics, including women in tech and AI machine learning.
Away from the show floor at the ICM (International Congress Center), there will be two conferences running over a similar time frame to the exhibition. The electronica Automotive Conference will be held on November 11 and keynote speakers will include Peter Schiefer, Automotive President of Infineon Technologies, and Gregg Lowe, CEO of Wolfspeed. The conference will cover topics including electrification, sustainability and cybersecurity. The Wireless Congress: Systems & Applications will be held on November 13 and 14 and will focus on advanced wireless systems.
A CEO talk is also scheduled as part of the supporting programme. This year, the CEO Roundtable, will take place at 5:00 p.m. on November 11 at the ICM. The subject of the discussion is “Leading the way to the All Electric Society”. Participating will be CEOs Jean-Marc Chery (STMicroelectronics), Jochen Hanebeck (Infineon Technologies) and Kurt Sievers (NXP Semiconductors). Also on the panel as an invited guest will be Barbara Bergmeier, Executive Director Industrial Operations at Jaguar Land Rover.
A number of special events will also be dedicated to the key topic of sustainability around the exhibition. bgreen leaders network will offer a day-long program of lectures and panel discussions on the latest trends and challenges in sustainability and the circular economy. Additionally, the All Electric Society Tour will provide an individual tour of selected exhibitors’ booths.
Electronica is not just for the established names in the market. Stand B4.440 will act as a platform for young companies to present their innovations. There will also be a Career Area at stand B4.359 to provide personal advice on applications and career planning, as well as a job market with industry information and job offers. As usual, on the Friday of the event, the fair will open its doors to students with targetted tours, workshops and career advice. |
