XP Power announced the launch of the ECP150 series of highly efficient and extremely compact open frame 150W AC-DC power supplies. Measuring just 4 x 2 x 1.26 inches (101.6 x 50.8 x 32 mm) and with a power density of 14.88 Watts per cubic inch, the series comply with UL/EN/IEC60950-1 and UL/EN/IEC60601-1 safety standards for medical and IT equipment. In addition, the units have a no load input power of less than 0.5W and a typical efficiency of 91%, helping the end equipment comply with internationally recognized energy efficiency initiatives. Operating from a universal input of 90-264 VAC, there are 5 single output models available within the range, covering the nominal outputs of +12, +15, +24, +28 or +48 VDC. A 12V / 0.5A output is also provided to power an external fan if required. Up to 100W output is achieved by convection cooling alone, and with only 15 CFM of forced cooling the full 150W output is available. The ECP150 has a wide range of operating temperature, from -20 degrees C to + 70 degrees C, that suits most environments. Full power output is available up to +50 degrees C with derating above. No additional heat sinking is required. The units comply with the EN55022 level B standard for conducted noise without the need for additional filtering components. Overvoltage, overload and short-circuit protection features are included as standard across the whole range. The ECP150 series is priced from $77.22 for 500 unit quantity orders and are available from Newark or direct from XP Power. They have a 3 year warranty. www.xppower.com
