Torex Semiconductor Ltd. has launched the XD9263/XC9264 series of the 500mA synchronous step-down DC/DC converters with internal 18V operation driver transistors for in-vehicle use (compliant with AEC-Q100).

The number of in-vehicle cameras installed per automobile for sensing and viewing applications has recently been showing an increasing trend due to improvements in the level of ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and autonomous driving. This is in turn leading to greater demands for lower quiescent current in camera modules, and reductions in space. The newly-developed XD9263/XD9264 series of synchronous step-down DC/DC converters, with internal 18V-operation driver transistors and an output current of 500mA, can answer these market demands and are power supply ICs ideal for in-vehicle camera modules.

With an input voltage range of 3.0V to 18.0V, these products are compatible with voltages supplied from navigation or other ECUs. Output voltage range is 1.0V to 15.0V (accuracy of ±1.5%), and switching frequency is 2.2MHz.

Operating modes can be selected from either PWM control (XD9263) or PWM/PFM automatic switching control (XD9264), to achieve high efficiency and low ripple voltage in all load ranges from light to heavy loads. Soft-start function is internally set to 1.0ms (TYP.), but can also be set as desired according to external resistances and capacities. Protective features are built in include overcurrent limit, auto-reset (XD9263D / XD9264D), integral latch (XD9263C / XD9264C), and thermal shutdown. Furthermore, output voltage sequence control is possible with a combination of output voltage status monitoring by means of the power-good function, and the soft-start function.

The packages for these products can be selected in accordance with the application, from pin-equipped SOT-25 or compact leadless package USP-6C (1.8 x 2.0 x h0.6mm)

They are also compatible with automotive IC quality standard AEC-Q100 Grade 2 (105°C), and PPAP documents can be provided at the request of customers, so they can be used without concern in products for in-vehicle applications.
