Renesas Electronics, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced new developments for the Renesas Synergy Platform, including the commercial release of the Renesas Synergy Software Package (SSP) version 1.0.0, mass production availability of the S7G2 Renesas Synergy Microcontrollers (MCUs), and availability of the first Verified Software Add-on (VSA) software from VSA Program partners.
The Renesas Synergy Platform, winner of the 2015 Elektra Internet of Things Product Innovation Award (Note 1), is a complete and qualified platform for the development of embedded and IoT applications. It was designed to provide engineers with a platform that already has basic system elements implemented, configured and tested, so engineers can eliminate the time normally needed to implement and integrate base-line functionality and move almost immediately to product design, potentially reducing time to market by months. This allows system manufacturers to truly differentiate and increase the value of the end product they create.
The SSP, the core of the Renesas Synergy Platform, integrates a real-time operating system with a rich set of utilities, drivers, libraries, software stacks, and application framework - all optimized specifically for the Renesas Synergy MCU architecture and fully supported by Renesas. The 1.0.0 version is the first version of the SSP fully qualified and usable in products in mass production.
The first devices in the Renesas Synergy Family of MCUs to go into mass production, the S7G2 Group of MCUs provides a high-performance CPU core and a large flash memory size for high-performance human machine interface (HMI) applications.
Cypherbridge Systems, Icon Labs, and Skkynet, all members of the VSA Program, are the first program members to offer production-ready software for the platform via the Renesas Synergy Gallery, the comprehensive online source for the Renesas Synergy Software.
