The market is calling for products that are increasingly reliable and sustainable. This is a major challenge, and one that also affects the sectors for electronics and electronics manufacturing. Several special shows will examine these aspects and add depth to the wide range of exhibits at productronica: Automotive Electronics, Blue Competence in Electronics Production, the Cleanroom Event Stage, the Cleaning & Contamination Testing Center, and Coilware Manufacturing. productronica takes place at the Messe München trade-fair center from November 12 - 15, 2013. Automotive Electronics special show Automobile manufacturers use electronics to distinguishing their products, whether for driving performance, engine control, the interior, or safety technology. In contrast to consumer electronics, automotive electronics and its products must meet extremely high standards when it comes to long service life, thermal stability, vibration and shock resistance, robustness and reliability. VDMA Productronics is working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Institute for Reliability and Microintegration to organize a special show on Automotive Electronics in Hall B2 (Stand 227) that will cover the following main topics: reliability, sensor technology, power electronics, interiors and LEDs. Rainer Kurtz, CEO of the kurtz-ersa Group and Chairman of the VDMA Productronics Association, explains the special demands that automakers make of mechanical engineering: "What we need are more innovations in production engineering and testing technology. That is why it comes as no surprise that German manufacturers of electronics machinery are considered some of the most important partners to the automotive industry and its suppliers. That makes this a very attractive topic for productronica." Dr. Eric Maiser, Managing Director of VDMA Productronics, adds: "Even greater demands for reliability and withstanding harsh ambient conditions than in the classic automotive sector call for mobile machines such as tractors or construction machinery. We found that very exciting. That is why we combined the two under the motto "new technologies and extreme conditions." Blue Competence in Electronics Production Only sustainable, innovative production technologies can ensure recyclable, environmentally compatible and energy-efficient products that conserve resources - that is the message behind machine manufacturing with "Blue Competence". That also applies to electronics production. VDMA Productronics will have a special "Blue Competence" stand in Hall B2 (Stand 331), where it will present examples of what manufacturers of electronics machinery have to offer when it comes to sustainability: Far-reaching standards such as REACH, RoHS and WEEE have already gone into effect and are now being successfully implemented. Automation and measuring technology are making "zero defects" possible, which saves energy and materials. In addition, LEDs, photovoltaics and Lithium-ion batteries are examples of sustainability in the products themselves. Cleanroom Event Stage Production under cleanroom conditions is now a permanent fixture in the sector for electronics production. Cleanrooms satisfy the necessary prerequisites that are indispensible for manufacturing electronic components by reducing the concentration of particles in the air to a minimum. Structural prerequisites such as airlocks or ventilation filters are essential, as are protective clothing and their cleaning. Having the Cleanroom Event Stage in Hall B2 (Stand 381) gives this important sector for electronics manufacturing its own platform at productronica. In various interactive live sessions, visitors will be given an in-depth look at everything from setting up, equipping and operating a cleanroom to testing the measuring equipment, logistics, machine delivery, cleaning, and utility feeds (hookups) in cleanrooms. The topic of clothing including dressing procedures and how to launder cleanroom clothing as well as the layout of the machines and design elements to satisfy cleanroom standards, their suitability for cleanroom use, recording various parameters and the use of robot arms (biorob) will also be covered. Cleaning and Contamination Testing Center For the first time ever, productronica will feature the Cleaning and Contamination Testing Center, which is being organized in conjunction with Bob Willis and the National Physical Laboratory. The test center offers practical support in the implementation of new solutions as well as updating existing solutions in the areas of cleaning, contamination monitoring, and fail protection in general. There will be live tests and presentations at Stand 429 in Hall A2 on all four days of the fair. productronica
