Registration closes December 15, 2014, for the 2015 DOE Race to Zero Student Design Competition! Don’t miss the chance to showcase your university team’s skill and commitment to designing market-ready zero energy homes.
New this year, Carl Franklin Homes in Dallas, Texas, will build one or more of the winning designs from the 2015 competition. Teams can design homes to the specifications of Carl Franklin Homes, and the winners will see their designs actually built. These homes will be sold to our nation's veterans, active duty or retired, providing them with sustainable, energy-efficient housing. Carl Franklin Homes will also be working with the City of Garland, Texas, which will provide the lots for both houses, and assistance with closing costs for the buyers.
Also, mark your calendars for the upcoming Race to Zero webinar, Effective Teaming, on Wednesday, December 17, at 12 p.m. ET/10 a.m. MT. Join Sam Rashkin, chief architect of the DOE Building Technologies Office, and Tom Kenney, vice president of engineering and research at Home Innovation Research Labs, as they focus on last year’s teams’ successes and challenges through a retrospective of team makeup and management techniques. A successful team from the 2014 event will also join and share best practices and tips.
