The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Energy Efficiency Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2014. The session, “Energy Storage and the Power Converters that Control Energy Storage,” will explore various energy storage devices and applications, with an emphasis on the power electronics and controls that interface with them. The PSMA’s Industry Session on Energy Storage (IS1.4) will take place on Thursday morning, March 20, 2014, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Featured are six invited experts from industry, research and government who will provide attendees an overview of the current applications and insights that may enable them to anticipate and identify potential opportunities for their companies to participate in markets with this important segment of technology.
Session topics include:
• The Role of Energy Storage in Power Management
• Batteries and Their Control
• Using Super Capacitors for Frequency Regulation
• Other Energy Devices (water, compressed air, thermal, rotating, flow batteries, etc.)
• Using DC Microgrids for Energy Storage Integration in Zero-Net Energy Buildings
• Energy Storage and Its Control in the Smart Grid
Ed Herbert, Industry Consultant and Dustin Becker of Emerson, co-chairs of the session stated “this Industry Session will not only be very informative but will also provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals who are in interfacing with and using Energy Storage Technologies. We encourage people to register for APEC 2014, make plans to attend the Industry Session on Energy Storage, and to consider participating in the other PSMA sponsored meetings during the week.”
