Phihong, a leading global supplier of OEM power solutions, has released a new 24V, 8A lead acid battery charger designed for power wheelchairs and mobility scooters with AGM or GEL batteries. Designated the DA200U-250A, Phihong’s new 24V, 8A battery charger features a convenient USB output connector, consumer electronics control (CEC) wiring, and LED indicators that communicate five charging states: connected to AC power, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.
Rated for 100 to 240VAC input and 24VDC output, the new 24V lead acid battery charger offers better than 87% average efficiency based on Level V Energy Star requirements, and is compliant with several critical safety standards, including: the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America’s (RESNA’s) WC-2:2009 American National Standard for Wheelchairs with Electrical Systems, which is based on the requirements and test methods that the International Standards Organization (ISO) defined for the power and control systems designed into electrically powered wheelchairs and scooters (ISO 7176-14:2008); the Canadian Standards Association’s (CSA’s) C22.2 No. 107.2-01 standard; and the European Committee for Electromechanical Standardization’s EN 60335-1 and EN60335-2-29 standards. The battery charger is also certified to CE safety specifications.
“The medical industry continues to experience near exponential growth, especially within the powered electronics realm, so enabling devices like our new 24V lead acid battery charger are critical to helping OEMs satisfy their customer’s demands regarding quality, reliability, cost, and safety,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA.
Each 24V, 8A DA200U-250A lead acid battery charger features built-in over voltage, short-circuit, and over-temperature protections, and measures 254mm (10”) x 120.5mm (4.74”) x 185mm (7.28”) [L x W x H]. Allowable operating temperatures for the charger span 0ºC to 40ºC with up to 90% relative humidity. Pricing starts at $40 apiece.
