Shortly before the world's leading trade fair of lighting opens its doors, Osram will present its first highlight products at the Light + Building Preview in Munich and Hamburg. Among other things, the lighting manufacturer will display the extended LED component portfolio that offers the right LED for every purpose as well as its most innovative product from 2015, Omnipoint, which is ready for series production for use in modern shop lighting.
At Osram’s booth this year's Light + Building trade fair will be placed under the slogan "Smart City." The lighting manufacturer will present smart lighting solutions in urban settings at the fair that will be held from March 13 - 18, 2016, in Frankfurt am Main. At the Light + Building Preview, Osram will use its initial highlights to offer an outlook about the trade fair.
The extended LED component portfolio
In the past nine months, Osram Opto Semiconductors has announced nearly 100 new LED varieties for general illumination. In the work, the primary aim was to extend the proven product families in terms of such qualities as efficiency and color rendering. The large number of product variations within the LED families also now covers various performance classes – from low power, mid power and high power to ultra high power LEDs. The customer now gets the right product in terms of size, price, light color, performance class and quality for every application. As a result, Osram has created an unique LED component portfolio that covers the entire range of technology and performance classes.
Flexible illumination from just one luminaire: Omnipoint
With the help of the flexible luminaire Omnipoint, several areas of a single room can be highlighted. This opportunity is made possible by the individual control of all 61 light emitting diodes in the dome-shaped ceiling luminaire. The lighting direction, form and angle can be simply and flexibly controlled by using an app with an intuitive user interface. The app makes it possible to program and save various lighting scenes and then retrieve them using a tablet. The luminaire is particularly well-suited for rooms that require a high degree of lighting flexibility, including conference rooms or fashion shops that have rotating product presentations. After the Omnipoint prototype was priced "Innovation of the Year" at the Light Fair New York 2015, the series-production version equipped with additional control functions is being rolled out. Up to eight Omnipoint luminaires can then be controlled wirelessly using WI-FI with DMX512 protocol. The downlight will be initially offered in 3000 and 4000 Kelvin versions.
More design freedom with an ultraflat system approach
The new ultraflat system provides lighting designers, architects and luminaire makers with the highest level of design freedom and use in state-of-the-art applications. The system's profile is just 11 millimeters and consists of an Optotronic LED driver as well as presence and daylight sensors. The Optotronic LED driver produces very high quality of light – for continuous dimming – DALI Edition 2 conformity and high energy efficiency. Moreover it can be flexibly programmed with both LEDSet and DALI or wireless technology (Near Field Communication Ready). Maximum energy savings are facilitated in combination with the eleven-millimeter-high sensor for daylight and presence recognition that works jointly with the driver to create unprecedented design freedom and new luminaire integration. The ultraflat system can be used in many ways, including in standing and pendant luminaires, recessed luminaires and batten luminaires for offices, educational settings, hotels and restaurants.
Preview: New company, new brand, new products
As premieres, the Osram business unit with the future name Ledvance will present a ready- to-install LED downlight and a similar LED spot. The Ledvance luminaire portfolio for trade provides installers with high-quality products that are designed to meet all standard requirements. The portfolio currently comprises eight product families that feature a performance of up to 120 lumens per watt, up to 50,000 hours of rated lifetime, clear design language and very easy installation. A small, round cutout in the intermediate ceiling is all that is needed to initially install the presented luminaires, spot and downlight. Existing luminaires can also be replaced in no time with LED technology, an option that will notably drive down electricity and maintenance costs. The new Ledvance luminaires can be used in private and professional settings.
