ON Semiconductor, driving energy efficiency innovations, will demonstrate new innovative solutions for embedded systems at the Embedded World Conference 2015 from Feb. 24-26 in Nuremberg, Germany.
Imaging
ON Semiconductor will demonstrate the new AR0230CS image sensor that enables the capture of high-definition (HD) 1080p video data at a rate of 60 frames-per-second (fps). Integrated support for HDR video, improved motion compensation, advanced local tone mapping (ALTM), and digital lateral overflow (DLO) that minimizes motion artifacts and enhances HDR color reproduction, are combined to accelerate time-to-market for HDR 1080p camera designs. The company will also demonstrate the 4k video capabilities of its AR1820 color image sensor. Featuring A-PixHS™ BSI Pixel and high-speed sensor technology, the high-resolution sensor delivers amazing image quality and remarkably rich video feature sets at a resolution of 18 megapixels (MP) with 24fps (15fps MIPI).
Also on display will be the PYTHON 1300 1.3 MP global shutter CMOS image sensor for scanning, machine vision and other industrial applications. With a pixel array of 1280 x 1024, the sensor provides a very high quality global shutter with high sensitivity, low noise and high shutter efficiency. PYTHON 1300 is part of the versatile PYTHON family of hardware scalable devices where all sensors have the same data, control and optical interface, thus allowing camera manufacturers to rapidly roll-out products with multiple resolutions, from VGA to 5 MP, with greatly minimized development effort.
Communications
Communication transceivers are an essential component for the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) market. ON Semiconductor will demonstrate several communication technologies designed with a focus on low power and energy efficiency that show how to interconnect sensors and actuators with wired KNX, HART and Fieldbus modems. Also on display will be ON Semiconductor’s new NCS36510 802.15.4 ultra-low power wireless transceiver, capable of running various software stack protocols. High quality audio communication through an ultra-low power Bluetooth connection will also be presented.
Motor Control and Power Solutions for the IoT
ON Semiconductor will unveil several new innovations that meet the tight power management and control required for IoT applications. The company will demonstrate an advanced Direct Torque Control Space Vector Modulation (DTC-SVM) motor control platform for Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. The new platform couples the ON Semiconductor Integrated Power Module (IPM) with an Intel® Quark™ SoC and enables high dynamic performance at low speed and high torque, a 10 percent reduction in switching losses, and a 10x latency reduction.
Also on display will be the LC709203F battery fuel gauge, which offers high accuracy measurement of the remaining battery state of charge, allowing for extended battery life. The new NCP785 wide input range linear regulator can be connected directly to the AC mains, offering extremely high power supply rejection ratio and ultra low quiescent current. An SOT-89 package makes the device ideal for space constrained applications in industrial and home automation, smart metering, and home appliances.
