Providing a high-powered, pole mounted power solution for wireless providers to build out small cells in their networks, OmniOn Power has introduced its new 4,500-watt (W) SC4500 power system. Designed for outdoor use, the fully integrated DC power system features a single-phase, IP65-rated, convection-cooled rectifier to provide the 48-volt (V) DC power required by 5G small cell radios from 208V or 240V AC input voltages.
"Our SC4500 power system delivers higher power to remote radio heads without the bulk of traditional pole-mounted cabinets, enabling simpler, more cost-effective installations" said Vito Savino, segment leader for OmniOn Power. "By powering up to eight 5G radios from one, pole mounted power system, our SC4500 can help providers achieve greater densification in high traffic locations and support additional radios in areas where additional network coverage is needed. "
The compact SC4500 power system, which measures 11.6” wide by 4.17” deep by 20.8” tall, features eight current-protected output connections for loads ranging from 5 amps (A) to 50A. Its pole-mount, configurable design simplifies installation and minimizes maintenance. In addition, screw terminal inputs and configurable output breakers eliminate the need for custom cables, further simplifying installation. Soft start and inrush current protection help prevent nuisance tripping of upstream breakers, and electronically controlled short-circuit protection help improve uptime.
The SC4500 features an integrated heat sink and mounting holes that allow for flexible installations including pedestal, cabinet, vault, wall, pole, shroud, or platform mounting. It has a full-power operating temperature range of -40°C to 46°C, making it well-suited for outdoor installations. The system is available with an optional solar shield.
