Mouser Electronics is now stocking the PiezoHapt ultra-thin actuator from TDK. Expanding TDK’s portfolio of haptic devices, including the PowerHap actuator, the PiezoHapt is one of the world's thinnest haptic components on the market today. With a thickness of only 0.35 mm and a very short response time of just 4 milliseconds, the PiezoHapt is significantly thinner and more energy efficient than conventional eccentric motors or linear resonance actuators.
The TDK PiezoHapt actuator, available from Mouser Electronics, is based on a unimorph design that consists of a multilayer piezo element bonded to one side of a vibration plate. This unimorph structure enables the device to adapt to temperature and shape challenges, and allows it to obtain a clear response while still driving with low voltage. The actuator can be driven with voltages as low as 24V and can produce a variety of vibration patterns depending on the amplitude and frequency of the voltage applied. At a frequency of 200 Hz and a voltage of 24V peak, the actuator offers a typical displacement of 65 µm (without load).
TDK’s PiezoHapt ultra-thin actuator is now in stock at Mouser Electronics in an 80 × 60 mm vibration plate footprint and represents an ideal power-saving haptic solution. Providing a wide range of vibration patterns, the PiezoHapt is ideal for haptic feedback applications in devices such as smartphones, wearables, tablets, displays, touchpads, and industrial controls.
