The new FN9274 filters have been designed according to Class II medical equipment standard IEC / EN 60601-1. The filters offer product designers Two MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) safety protection "out of the box", eliminating the requirement for any further EMC or isolation components. The FN9274 filters have a plastic enclosure for higher dielectric strength insulation.
Applications include general medical devices (MDD), in-vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDD), intensive care environments, test and measurement and electrical and electronic equipment and audio/video and communication equipment (to IEC/UL 62368-1).
The FN9274 filters use C18 inlet receptacles without an earth pin (according to IEC 60320) and are compatible with C17 V-Lock locking power cords to avoid accidental disconnection of power. The are available in 3 mounting configurations, front panel mount, rear panel mount and snap-in fit and offer two termination styles available for each configuration, fast-on connectors and wire leads for direct connection. They are rated to 4000 Vac, with creepage/clearance of 8mm/5mm and are double insulated.
The new FN9274 series complements Schaffner’s very successful existing portfolio of IEC filters which have served the medical industry for many years. None of Schaffner’s FN92xxB and FN92xxEB IEC filter models add leakage current to medical systems, maintaining safety in critical environments.
All new filters from Schaffner are designed for a maximum continuous operating voltage of 250VAC, 50/60Hz and for nominal currents up to 15A. They have worldwide approvals in accordance with ENEC, CQC, UL and CSA and meet the requirements for RoHS and REACH regulation. More information on Schaffner’s full medical filter range is available on their website.
