Network Rail selects Eltek for UPS project for Channel Tunnel rail link

    05/07/2013

Eltek announced that Network Rail (High Speed) Ltd., the UK's only high-speed railway operator, has selected the company's Eltek UK division to provide AC and DC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to ensure nonstop uptime on critical equipment involved with the High Speed 1 (HS1) rail link (formally known as Channel Tunnel Rail Link). The announcement was made at RAILTEX 2013 in London, where Eltek will be demonstrating its modular hybrid AC and DC power supply solutions on stand D94. The agreement brings the industry's highest efficiency and most reliable industrial UPS into a mission-critical railroad application. In total, Eltek UK have installed five systems. The Channel Tunnel Rail Link, completed in 2007, was the UK's first high-speed railway, operating at speeds up to 300 km/h and connecting London with the Channel Tunnel and international high-speed rail services. The route is 109 km in length, starting at St. Pancras station in London and going through to Cheriton Shuttle Terminal in Folkestone. "Network Rail (High Speed) Ltd is showing great foresight in making a power system upgrade that will deliver the uptime they expect, along with dramatically better efficiency, reliability and remote monitoring," said Lars Dousa, Eltek Executive Vice President. "Our success with the HS1 project is a very strong reference point for further approval and acceptance by Network Rail (High Speed) Ltd." Eltek
