Magicstrap for track and trace with Cogiscan

Ceramic passive components manufacturer Murata, in collaboration with Cogiscan Inc, the track, trace and control provider for electronics manufacturing have announced a new strategic partnership.  The companies have combined their respective products to offer complete PCB track, trace and control solutions using Murata's innovative RFID tag — MAGICSTRAP. Cogiscan plans to demonstrate this in booth 609 at the IPC APEX exhibition, scheduled for February 19-21, 2013 in San Diego. According to David Kirk, President of Murata Americas: "This is a natural collaboration for our companies.  RFID offers great potential compared to traditional identification and tracking methods, but this technology must be part of a complete system to make it easy-to-use and implement. Cogiscan is the clear leader in PCB tracking and traceability in our industry and they have more than 12 years of experience working with related software and RFID technology. Together we will bring a world-class solution out-of-the-box." François Monette, Co-President for Cogiscan stated, "We are pleased to be associated with a world-class technology company like Murata. We have always believed in the potential of RFID for PCB track, trace, and control applications. Now it is available from well-established suppliers at a reasonable cost and we look forward to implementing this technology in a wide variety of electronic products. " Murata's Magicstrap series is the latest UHF RFID chip technology specifically designed to be placed on the printed circuit board with minimal effort. It features EPC Global Gen2/ISO 18000-6C compatible; UHF frequencies (860 ~ 960MHz); integrated antennas impedance matching function, using ground as antenna with 4-5 meter read range possible; memory capacity 512bits; size 3.2 x 1.6 x 0.55mm and RoHS compliant.
