Elektra European Electronics Industry Award for Maxim Integrated's Zeus

Maxim Integrated has won a 2013 Elektra European Electronics Industry Award for Zeus, its highly integrated smart meter system-on-a-chip (SoC). Zeus combines accurate metrology, multiple layers of security and a wide range of communication functions on a single chip.

Zeus met the independent jury’s criteria for the ”Renewable Energy Design Award of the Year.” With its high integration and efficiency, Zeus secures the life cycle, developer’s IP, and the grid itself with proven embedded security technology, providing utilities and meter manufacturers with a flexible and efficient platform for their current and future requirements.

As smart meters become more connected, the need for security is paramount to protect against energy theft and cyber attacks on the grid. By combining metrology, security and communication, Zeus provides a platform for any embedded smart grid equipment that needs to measure, to communicate, and to do it securely.

In its 11th year, the Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards is an established forum to celebrate the achievements of individuals and companies across Europe. This year’s awards presented best-practice in key areas, including innovation, sales growth and employee motivation.

“Zeus demonstrates that a highly integrated embedded solution can make the grid more intelligent, responsive and secure”, commented Kris Ardis, Executive Director of Energy Solutions at Maxim Integrated. “Winning an Elektra Award is a prestigious honor, and we are very excited that Maxim’s complete smart meter SoC has been acknowledged by the Elektra Award Committee.”
