"Green" energy production and energy efficient homes are among the issues highlighted at Light+Building from 15th - 20th April in Frankfurt. How energy saving features can be combined with those that ensure security and comfort in the home is demonstrated by the manufacturing consortium Z-Wave Alliance (www.z-wavealliance.org) at its joint stand C88 in Hall 9.0. The range of devices based on the Z-Wave wireless standard now includes over 600 interoperable components. With these products the Alliance covers a broad range of applications, such as heating control, air-conditioning, security technology and entertainment. Light+Building, as the leading trade fair for Architecture and Technology, is the next in a series of industry meeting events in which the Z-Wave Alliance has participated in 2012. Starting with the CES in Las Vegas, the manufacturing consortium was also represented on an international level at Distributec, CeBit and ISC West. At CeBIT, in particular, the Alliance's range of developments, products and solutions in the area of home control greatly attracted the interest of visitors. The Alliance will be holding its 20th Advanced Training and Unplug Fest event in Amsterdam May 9th and 10th where member companies will test interoperability of their newest products and where new protocol features and test tools will be released. The 21st Advanced Training and Unplug Fest will be held in Taipei in June. The fact that Z-Wave is becoming increasingly established is further emphasised by its current standardisation by the International Telecommunication Union, ITU, which recently ratified the Z-Wave wireless technology under standard ITU-T G.9959. Z-Wave is taking hold in many new regions of the world including Russia, Japan, China and Brazil where Alliance members are starting new projects. Home control experts on site At Light+Building, Alliance members FAKRO, Sigma Designs, Aeon Labs, Eminent e-Domotica, Fujikom, Honeywell, Motion Control Systems, Square Connect, QEES and Zonoff are presenting a small sample of the 600 plus Z-Wave portfolio products to date. In addition, the experts are on hand for discussions with trade visitors about the home control line and trends and developments in the area of home automation and energy saving. "The certification of the 600th product based on Z-Wave proves that the home control and Smart Energy market is continuing to grow and users are increasingly aware of the advantages of an integrated, interoperable home", explains Mark Walters, Chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "In response to this demand, at Light+Building some of the Alliance members are presenting the latest products to make life in networked homes even more comfortable and secure."
