Capacitor series provides termination, ESR, and surge-current options

T543 Series Polymer Tantalum capacitors

Kemet has introduced a new line of polymer COTS capacitors. TheT543 Seriesoffers over 300 discrete part numbers not including termination,ESR,and surge-current options. This offering provides designers with the tools necessary to customize their capacitance approach and maximise application performance. "The features of the T543 Series will allow our customers to use up to 90% fewer capacitors, providing the lowest cost approach for power management," said Dr. Philip Lessner,KEMETsenior VP, CTO, and Chief Scientist. "LowESRcharacteristics and outstanding power dissipation results in ripple current that is three times higher than the equivalent MnO2 capacitor." The T543 PolymerCOTSSeries utilises the designs ofKEMET's commercial polymer product with the addition of 24 hours minimum of voltage conditioning and surge current options at +25°C and -55°C/+85°C," stated Ed Jones,KEMETspecialty tantalum product manager. "This upscreening, combined with a benign failure mode, assures the design community of long term reliability and worry-free performance." Typical applications include radar pulse capacitor and point-of-load supply and switch-mode power supply in the computer, industrial, defense, and telecommunications markets. Kemet
