Schaffner, the international leader in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and power quality, has introduced an IP20 enclosed version of its market leading ecosine evo range of compact modular passive harmonics filters. Designed to meet the most demanding of harmonic mitigation tasks this new generation of filters guarantees compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent international power quality standards.
Already available in a standard IP00 version the Schaffner ecosine FN 3440, FN 3450 and FN 3452 filters can now be specified with an IP20 enclosure, including finger guard, providing protection from solid objects approximately 12mm in size, such as adult fingers.
Schaffner ecosine eco filters are designed for use with three-phase diode and thyristor rectifier systems and achieving a THID ≤ 5% without an additional DC-link choke included in the drive. They guarantee compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent international power quality standards while being the most compact passive harmonic filters available in the market. The filters offer excellent performance at rated power with minimal reactive power even at partial or no-load conditions. With the installation of the new ecosine filters the electrical infrastructure and its utilization are much more efficient and reliable. Installation of an ecosine filter ensures the service life cycle of electrical equipment is extended and energy costs are reduced.
The flexible modular concept of Schaffner ecosine evo offers users an optimal tailored solution configurable to meet every installation requirement or motor drive setup. Optional modules include a fan with or without an auxiliary power supply, trap disconnect jumper and RC damper modules.
Typical applications for Schaffner ecosine evo passive harmonic filters include AC variable speed motor drives, SCR DC drives, factory automation equipment, HVAC installations in buildings, UPSs and large three-phase power supplies, self-contained systems (e.g. drives on ships), heavy industry and machinery, water/wastewater treatment facilities, oil and gas exploration equipment (e.g. well-head controls), electronic welders and battery chargers
ecosine evo filters FN 3440, FN 3450 and FN 3452 are rated for 50 Hz/400 VAC, 50 Hz/500 VAC and 60 Hz/480 VAC grids, respectively, with standard power ratings available from 1.1 to 250 kW (1.5 to 300 HP for 60 Hz filters). They are available as open frame IP 00 and protection category IP 20 (IP 21 and NEMA 1/NEMA 3R (only in the US) as a future option). All filters are CE-marked, UL listed (pending) and RoHS compliant. The ecosine evo filters are easy to install and maintain and are be fully supported in Schaffner’s well known power quality simulator SchaffnerPQS3.
