FCL Components Launches Signal Switching Relays for Automotive Applications Including EV Battery Controls

FCL Components America, Inc., has released a new series of signal switching relays ideal for power monitoring in electric vehicles (EV).

Conventional signal relays have often been used to switch signals for on-board equipment in electric vehicles. However, EV batteries usually use 300 to 400VDC. This exceeds the expected usage range of many signal relays, and that can lead to problems.

FCL Components FTR-B3/FTR-B4/FTR-C1 signal relays are specialized for automotive signal switching and can operate at 1mA 400VDC. They’re a great fit for switching audio circuits for emergency calls, battery controller applications including battery monitoring, abnormal detection of over-voltage and over-current, and low/high leakage detection.

The series combines a proven track record of highly reliable signal switching performance, adding to the specification of 1mA 400VDC switching (maximum switching power 0.4W). The lineup includes the small, low profile FTR-B3; the small, slim FTR-B4; and high insulation/wide gap FTR-C1 series.

FTR-B3/FTR-B4/FTR-C1 series relays are manufactured at a certified factory in compliance with IATF16949, an international standard for automotive management systems. They are UL and CSA recognized and RoHS compliant.

The series is part of FCL Components’ ongoing work to expand our range of highly reliable and high-performance relays well suited for in-vehicle equipment.
