Excelitas Technologies, a technology leader focused on delivering innovative, customized optoelectronics to OEMs seeking high-performance technology solutions, announced the latest of its industry-leading digital pyrodetectors, the Low-Power DigiPyro® PYD 1688. This new digital pyrodetector operates on reduced power consumption and features sleep mode operation, making it ideal for wireless and battery-operated motion detection applications. As part of the industry's one and only Digital Pyroelectric Infrared Detector Family, the new DigiPyro PYD 1688 was developed for use in both residential and commercial products. It runs on a 3V power supply and features a special sleep mode operation, which helps extend battery life when a device is not in use. This results in greater efficiency in motion sensing, home automation, intrusion alarm and wireless presence detection applications. "When Excelitas introduced the digital pyrodetector, we led the motion sensing world from analog to digital, enabling new cutting-edge applications for customers worldwide," said Michael Ersoni, senior vice president and general manager, Excelitas Technologies' global detection business. "With the launch of our new digital pyrodetector, DigiPyro PYD 1688, we are pleased to build upon our momentum by delivering first-to-market sensor innovations." Excelitas will feature the new Low-Power DigiPyro PYD 1688 along with an extensive portfolio of infrared sensing and detection products at SENSOR + TEST 2013 in Nürnberg, Germany from May 14 - 16 at the Excelitas booth, Hall 12, Stand 503. In addition, customers can see a live demonstration of the CoolEye™ Infrared Imager 1024 which provides 32x32 pixel resolution in a pocket-sized form factor for a variety of commercial, security, and medical applications.
