Already offering modular flexibility and scalability, the 98 percent efficient Chloride MP-NET now provides 50 percent more power for the same footprint size. Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced that the Chloride MP-NET, its original mid-sized modular UPS, has been upgraded to provide up to 120kVA of uninterruptible power. The Chloride MP-NET is a hot-swappable modular UPS system designed to grow with load requirements, offering modular flexibility and scalability combined with exceptional energy efficiency, making it ideal for small data centres and business networks. "The Chloride MP-NET enables smaller IT facilities to start with just 20kVA capacity and then increase the UPS rating or add redundancy at a later date without the expense of buying a fully rated unit on day one" said Rob Tanzer, technical support manager for the Chloride AC Power business of Emerson Network Power in the United Kingdom. "This extension to the Chloride MP-NET's capability means that managers can grow their business or improve availability without worrying about hitting the limits of UPS capacity. The Chloride MP-NET started, and now continues to drive, the modularity revolution in smaller, mission critical facilities." If loads increase, or additional N+1 parallel redundancy is needed, the Chloride MP-NET allows up to six 20kVA modules to be slotted in, hot swopped or reassigned within each 120kVA UPS. The parallel capability of the Chloride MP-NET means that four units can together provide up to a maximum of 480 kVA (or 460 kVA N+1) of protected power. This modularity also allows businesses to avoid running oversized standalone UPS at partial loads, a common practice associated with big throughput losses, even for UPS otherwise capable of achieving high operating efficiencies. The Chloride MP-NET's modularity allows headline efficiencies to be maintained at off-peak loads of as little as 40 percent of total load. "Data centres are all about achieving best use of space and power, minimising both capital and running costs. The compact size of this modular UPS - providing up to 120kVA or 100kVA N+1 redundancy within 5 square feet (1.5m2)- makes it particularly suitable for applications where space is limited," said Tanzer. "Chloride's MP-NET extends the ability of customers to expand in their own time without compromising efficiency, redundancy or backup power." The Chloride MP-NET features:
