The power module production capacity at Danfoss Silicon Power in Schleswig, Germany will be expanded with 600m2 in November, 2010. After this expansion, all available space in the 4,500m2 building is fully utilized. Nonetheless, this expansion is not sufficient to meet the extremely high demand for power modules, also after 2015. Therefore, we are expanding the power module capacity in Danfoss Silicon Power by moving from Schleswig to the facilities in Flensburg, Germany, which were formerly owned by Motorola. This expansion is yet another step in creating a strong power electronics center in the Danish/German border region. The new premises in Flensburg include about 18,000m2 production and logistics area and 9000m2 office area. Although they are modern and have been used for production of electronic devices before, they are to be prepared for clean room production in order to comply with the high TS16949 quality standards of power module production. The move will start in second quarter 2011 and be completed in 2012. It involves 200 employees now working in Schleswig. The colleagues moving from Schleswig to Flensburg will still work within Danfoss Silicon Power, so there will be no changes in their organisational positions. Danfoss Silicon Power plans to create about 200 jobs additionally within power electronics in Flensburg by 2015. Danfoss Silicon Power is part of Danfoss Power Electronics division, who has experiences tremendous growth in all its businesses, including frequency converters, solar inverters and power modules in 2010. The power module business is one of the great successes in Power Electronics. The state-of-the-art solutions meet the growing demand for power modules in a wide range of applications, for example, industry, wind and automotive. Expanding our capacity will enable us to reap the fruits of this very positive development on the market and is a step on our way to become a leading supplier of customized power modules, which is in line with our long term plans also known as our Power Electronics Core & Clear strategy. www.Danfoss.com
