AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has expanded its series of high temperature, SXP-style, encapsulated, radial leaded, switch mode power supply (SMPS) multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) to include three high voltage ratings: 1500V, 2000V, and 3000V. Capable of withstanding operating temperatures as high as 200°C, voltage ratings for the SXP-style SMPS capacitor series now span 50-3000V.
Exhibiting low ESR, low ESL, low DCL, and excellent high frequency performance, AVX’s SXP-style SMPS capacitors provide critical mechanical protection for the ceramic element, enabling their use as DC filters in high power, high frequency motor drives, high pulsed-current circuitry, and a range of other extreme high temperature and harsh environment applications, such as: downhole oil exploration, including logging while drilling and geophysical probes, and various space, aerospace, and hybrid automotive applications.
“Fully encapsulated and constructed using high temperature solder to ensure reliable operation in harsh, high heat environments with temperatures up to 200°C, our radial leaded SXP-style SMPS capacitors are available with a wide capacitance and voltage range in addition to a variety of custom configurations, which makes them ideal for an expansive variety of rugged motor drive, drilling, space, aerospace, and automotive applications,” said Patrick Hollenbeck, Application Engineer at AVX.
The high temperature, radial leaded SXP-style SMPS capacitor series is available in four sizes with voltage ratings spanning 50V to 3000V and capacitance values spanning 100pF to 12µF. The series is also available in C0G (NP0) and VHT, both of which are available with tolerance ratings of ±5%, ±10%, ±20%.
AVX’s high temperature, SXP-style, encapsulated, radial leaded SMPS MLCCs are compatible with SpiCalci 8.0 SPICE modeling software and are available with standard lead times. Pricing, high temperature reliability data, and custom configurations are available upon request.
