As Amazon plows forward with its plans for world domination expansion, they’ve committed to buying 100,000 electric vans and eliminating fossil fuels altogether.

EV leader Rivian will provide the vans, with a $400 million investment from Amazon, and the e-commerce juggernaut announced an ambitious plan to source 80% of its energy from renewable sources by 2024 and 100% by 2030.

Amazon currently gets about 40% of its energy from wind and solar, and all their vans use fossil fuels. And apparently, these moves will put them 10 years ahead of the goals laid out by the Paris climate agreement.

According to CEO Jeff Bezos, Amazon would "implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris agreement," alter its "actual business activities to eliminate carbon" and acquire "credible" carbon offsets based on "nature-based solutions."

He added that “You can invent your way out of any box – and that’s what we humans need to do right now," he said. "I believe we’re going to do it. I’m sure we’re going to do it."
